All were invited to the celebration of the Feast of San Pedro Calungsod First Filipino Saint at 3 PM with a Filipino Trinitarian priest, Fr. Rich Giner as celebrant. I enjoy hearing the stories of the many saints and their struggles in daily life.
This past Sunday, the Filipino community celebrated the Feast of San Pedro Colungsod, First Filipino Saint. The mass held at St. Gregory was beautiful with the beautiful choir. The community never fails to participate and their faith keeps them helping others in time of need. The are always ready to offer service and serve their Savior. Fr. Rich Giner gave a beautiful sermon of service and emphasizing that we serve as we are the vines of the church and being compassionate and serving is one of the best way to serve.
The community works together and presented a beautiful buffet afterwards and all socialize with each other and meet their fellow members who traveled far to join the celebration in the community. It is always emotional to hear all the great things our communities do for each other. Father Giner told us about a mother who recently died leaving a baby several months old. She was a member of the choir and now they each take turns taking care of the baby. The baby has a big family with love in abundance. That is all our children can ask for, LOVE!
I have several Filipino friends and enjoy being with them as I guess in my pass life I must have been in that area. Many ask the question, where are you from? Perhaps in the past but not in this lifetime, lol. It is always a joy to be with the Filipino community and enjoy the warmth and joy as those of my Mexican family. It is so amazing to see how many travel from faraway to celebrate such beautiful momentos such as the Feast of San Pedro Calungsod, First Filipino Saint. It is a blessing I give much thanks always!
Here are is one of my favorite Filipino recipe I enjoy at festivities:
